The Classroom Website
This website is how I blend technology with learning. It's a work in progress, but please look through what my students are learning! Before my Master of Arts program, I would not have known how to do this, so I love blending online learning with in class learning. Hopefully you can use some of the ideas on my website for your own classroom experiences.
The following buttons lead to different pages to check out on the classroom website so that you have a better idea of what goes on in the classroom. Enjoy!
When designing the classroom, I really thought about how my students would feel as they walked in. I wanted a welcoming space that had different seating options to let my students feel more comfortable in the room. I enjoy having color and showcasing student work on the walls. Normally, I would have students in groups, but for a slight change this semester, I chose to have rows, which is working out very well and there is more discussion than there was in the groups.
The Classroom Pets
These pictures are of the classroom Glow Fish (Bolt, Athena, and Hades), the Beta Fish (Walt Fishney), and Ryuko, the Baby Bearded Dragon. Students enjoy feeding the animals and holding the dragon. I find that certain anxious students do better when holding Ryuko. I get a lot of strange looks when I tell people that I have a pet dragon in the classroom since I am an English teacher, not a Science teacher. My students like tweeting and posting Snap Chats about Ryuko and they have an order of operations on who gets to hold him during class. It's a lot of fun to watch!
