Some of the best advice that I have ever been given by someone was to never, ever set your plans in stone, since you never know where you may end up. This has been very true ever since I started teaching. I didn't want to leave my home state, but I found a great job, great people to work for and with, and I have found my love of teaching with technology when I transferred from teaching in Michigan to teaching in South West Kansas. I have grown immensely since graduating college and I can't wait to share with you my experiences, my teaching philosophy, and my growth as a student and teacher.
The Slideshow below shows pictures of my life growing up in Michigan and ends with some pictures with students and events that I have been a part of while teaching in Kansas.
I hope after looking at my slideshow, you now understand the type of person that I have grown into. FFA and 4-H helped shape me as a leader and my family taught me the values that I needed to be a great person and teacher.
My Advice to You: Surround yourself with people who enjoy what they do; your life can take a really amazing turn. I challenge you to go and do something that inspires you or scares you. If you have been thinking about making a big change in your life- do it. You will regret it if you don't. I was scared to death to move to a place that I had spent only 24 hours in, but I am extremely happy that I did. I have grown so much by making this change and I will continue to grow as I teach and live in Garden City, KS.
No matter where your winding road takes you, enjoy the journey.
